SunPower bankruptcy: what happens to my panels
One date, 30 September 2024, and one question, lease or owned, decide who you call.

The short answer
After the SunPower bankruptcy, your panels keep producing, but who supports them depends on how you hold the system and when it was energized. SunPower filed Chapter 11 on 5 August 2024 in Delaware.
The brand, Blue Raven Solar and the dealer network were sold to Complete Solaria, which closed on 30 September 2024 and took no responsibility for systems installed before then.
Your options: leases and PPAs go to the financier or SunStrong Management, which says it took over account management for 110,000 former SunPower customers. Owned systems can be serviced by any licensed installer, and manufacturer warranties go straight to the maker.
Check your contract first: who to call
| Your situation | Who supports it | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Lease or PPA, pre-sale | Your financier or SunStrong Management, (833) 514-1858 | EnergySage; SunStrong |
| Owned (cash or loan), energized on or before 30 Sept 2024 | Any licensed solar contractor; the lender for loan questions | EnergySage |
| Energized after 30 Sept 2024 by Blue Raven or Complete Solar | SunPower (the new company) | EnergySage |
| Panel or inverter defect, any of the above | The equipment manufacturer | Manufacturer warranty terms |
The phone number is as published by EnergySage (updated 16 April 2026); SunStrong’s own support page uses a contact form. Confirm before you share account details.
Your options
Monitoring. SunStrong says its SunStrong Connect app, formerly mySunPower, is available to former SunPower customers. If you lost visibility, re-register there; production history is what any warranty claim will need.
Repairs on an owned system. You are free to hire another licensed company. Expect to pay the labor: manufacturer warranties such as Enphase’s exclude the cost of removing and reinstalling a covered part. Solar panel repair cost has sourced prices.
Selling. Leased? The buyer assumes through the financier or SunStrong, or you buy out. Owned with a loan? Check for a fixture filing (UCC-1 removal).
Workmanship warranty from the old SunPower. The 8-K and sale terms do not state it was assumed, and EnergySage reports the buyer did not take on pre-acquisition systems. Treat it as lost unless someone confirms otherwise in writing.
Step by step
- 1Find your energize date
Your utility’s permission-to-operate letter has it.
- 2Confirm lease or owned
The contract title says “lease”, “PPA” or “purchase/loan”.
- 3Register equipment with each manufacturer
Serial numbers are on the inverter and panels.
- 4Restore monitoring
SunStrong Connect for former SunPower customers.
- 5Log faults in writing with whoever supports you
Keep ticket numbers and dates.
When to get help
If you are paying a lease and a fault goes unfixed, complain to your state attorney general. If you are paying a loan for a system that does not work, write to the lender and file with the CFPB. See also Sunnova customers, now serviced by the same company.
